Staffing Industry Analysts, the Global Advisor on Staffing and Workforce Solutions, reports that the owner of a Massachusetts staffing firm was indicted for failing to pay workers compensation premiums.

The operator of a temporary staffing firm in Worcester, Massachusetts, was indicted for evading more than $110,000 in workers’ compensation premiums, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healy announced recently.

Sovane Kien, who owns People’s Temp Service Inc. of Worcester, underreported the number of employees and the amount it paid the employees to its workers’ compensation insurance provider, according to the Attorney General’s Office. The underreporting took place from August 2012 through August 2018 and resulted in the evasion of approximately $111,856 in insurance premiums, the office reported.

Kien faces six counts of workers’ compensation fraud, five counts of larceny over $250 and one count of larceny over $1,200. He will be arraigned on Oct. 22.
